Rabbits explore with their teeth, so look at a room from floor level before offering free-roam time. Protect electrical cords with sturdy covers, move houseplants out of reach, and block narrow gaps behind appliances or furniture where a rabbit could get trapped.
Make safe choices easy
Provide hay, a litter area, a covered resting spot and rabbit-safe chew items. Supervise new spaces at first and check regularly for loose threads, damaged barriers or items your rabbit has started to chew.
Rabbits are easily injured by falls and rough handling. Keep children seated during interactions and show them how to let the rabbit approach. Ask a rabbit-savvy veterinarian or rescue group about room setup for your rabbit鈥檚 age and mobility.
