Make new things feel safe
Let your puppy observe from a distance where they can still eat, play or turn away. Pair calm moments with a treat or praise, and give them a choice to retreat. Keep greetings brief and avoid forcing contact with people or unfamiliar dogs.
Notice body language: turning away, hiding, freezing or refusing treats can mean the experience is too much. Reduce the intensity and try again another day. Your veterinarian or a qualified reward-based trainer can help create a plan for a worried puppy.
